Mike is currently serving in his second term as State Auditor, having first been elected to the statewide position in 2015.
In his role he has completed high profile audits that have improved transparency and accountability of how Kentucky tax dollars are spent. Additionally, his administration has worked with state lawmakers to pass legislation to strengthen city audit requirements, improve transparency of area development districts, and reduce the cost of audits for county officials.
As a member of the state legislature, Mike served as the Vice Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Tourism Development and Energy. He also served as a member of the committees for Banking and Insurance, Elections, Constitutional Amendments & Intergovernmental Affairs, Health and Welfare.
A prolific traveler of the state, Mike has carried a message of Freedom Over Fear to every corner of the Commonwealth. He is dedicated to ending Governor Andy Beshear’s reign of mandates and restrictions, which have decimated Kentucky families and small businesses.
He was also valedictorian of his Boyle County High School class. Mike also serves as a deacon and church moderator at Junction City First Baptist Church.
Mike is most proud of being married to his wife, Lynn for more than 31 years, and raising their two daughters, Tori and Lizzie. Mike is also a proud grandfather to his grandsons, Aiden and Silas. As Mike campaigns for Governor, this philosophy is near and dear to his heart:
On Faith
I’m just a sinner saved by God’s Grace trying to get a little better every day. I do not recall a time I did not talk to God, but I made a public profession of faith while I was visiting my aunt and uncle’s church in Ashland, KY. At that Children’s Church in Ashland, I accepted Jesus as my Savior, confessed my sins and asked for forgiveness.
It has been a continual journey since that day, and I continue to seek His guidance and His will in my life both personally and politically.
I may not be a polished politician, but if you want some who loves the Lord, loves his family, and who loves this country, and in that order, I hope you will think of me.
Mike’s Mission Statement
“I HAVE NO DESIRE TO LEAVE A LEGACY, EXCEPT, THAT I SERVED MY LORD, I SERVED MY FAMILY, AND I SERVED MY COUNTRY, WELL.”

On Fentanyl
With the southern border wide open, Kentuckians are dying each and every day due to the exploding Fentanyl epidemic in our country. According to the CDC, 107,375 people in the United States died of drug overdoses and drug poisonings in the 12-month period ending in January 2022. A staggering 67 percent of those deaths involved synthetic opioids like fentanyl.
Kentucky needs a 3 prong attack when it comes to addressing the drug and fentanyl laced drug problem in this state and this nation.
Today I filed paperwork to begin my path to seek the Republican Party’s nomination for the 2023 Kentucky Governor’s race. My launch is not filled with fireworks and fanfare, but merely my strong determination to help renew Kentucky and hopefully help this state become the best version of itself it can be.
Over the last year and a half, sadly Kentuckians have had their liberties and their livelihoods suspended and stolen while promises to make those losses whole have gone for the most part unfulfilled.
I learned a long time ago to make few promises because someone’s word should be their bond, and that bond, if at all possible, should be honored and unbroken. But I will make this promise that if I am elected, I will do my best to take time to listen to the people of Kentucky and to serve each and every one to the best of my abilities regardless of their political affiliation.
That’s what I’ve done as a State Representative, where I was known as one of the most conservative members in the House, and as your Auditor of Public Accounts, where I go to work every day with the goals of protecting taxpayers and making government more efficient, effective, and ethical. I love serving as your State Auditor, and I will continue working toward those same goals if elected to the Governor’s office.
I’m a Christian, a husband, a father, and a grandfather. I want my children, grandchildren, and every adult and child in Kentucky to know this state holds great opportunities for each and every one.
So that you can better understand what motivates me, I share my mission statement that I adopted after my first successful election to public office and one I have tried to live by:
“I have no desire to leave a legacy,
Except,
That I served my Lord,
That I served my Family,
And that I served my Country,
Well.”
I look forward to once again traveling across the state and meeting the wonderful people of Kentucky as I listen to their concerns and share my goals for our great Commonwealth.
Thanks and God Bless,
Mike
